Michael Pollan: Health-Care Reform Will Change Our Diets

“Right now, the food industry creates patients for the health-care industry,” Michael Pollan told Jon Stewart last night on The Daily Show. Pollan was ostensibly there to plug his new book, Food Rules, but also got into a discussion about how health-care reform could change the food industry. If everyone must have access to health care, the insurance industry could take a bigger interest in how we care for ourselves and, namely, what we eat. Women Tasting Wine “Wines from the Loire Valley,” January 18, 4:00 to 6:00.

On January 18 we will explore Wines from the Loire Valley. The Loire is the longest river in France and flows through France’s longest and most diverse wine region. John Aylward, of Vin De Garde Wines, will guide us through a balanced sampling of wines from the Loire Valley, and Chef Tim, professionally trained in France, will surprise us with delicious food pairings.
